Wallace

"What initially got me intrigued about Y2K-9 was its peculiar plot: the idea of Wallace holding up his end of his Y2K dog insurance deal was hilarious, especially considering the genuine fear I had as a ten year old in 1999. What really got me, though, was the depth of the plot: every time I read the script, I was uncovering so many wonderful new things about the story - from the significance of word choice, to the cycles of abandonment that provoked Wallace's grief. I had such a great time working on Y2K-9, with its balance between wry, awkward humour and emotional depth. Whether you watch it once for entertainment or several times to find what I found, I hope you enjoy!"

Fergus

"I fell in love with storytelling during the pandemic as I immersed myself in TV like many others. As I watched more and more shows, I started to think about what it would be like to be in front of the camera. Being able to tell different stories and play different characters has been fun. I also enjoy being able to meet and learn from many different people on various productions. I wanted to play a role in the Y2K-9 film because I loved the script. I thought the story about the rapture was very unique. Once I met the crew, I knew I wanted to work with them. Their passion and energy was contagious and overall they seemed to be a great team. I had an amazing time on set and can't wait to see the film."

"I first started writing, “Y2K-9”, in 2019. Back then, I was inspired to tell this story thanks to the larger than life anecdotes surrounding the bringing in of the new millennium. I was born in 1995, which means I have direct memories originating from this time period. Being only five, I only remember the feeling. The anxiety, the fear, the sorrow, even the jokes. It was a weird way to ring in a new year. Years later, I have returned to this early time in my life to create a fictionalized version of the past. One where the rapture, not computers, was the cause of humanity on January 1st 2000."

Shane Roberts

Producer

"Hi! my name is Shane and I produced Y2K-9. What drew me to this project was how it balanced both the lighthearted and serious tones. I think that the film has a very mature outlook on life while also being easily accessible. And I also love dogs!"
